A recent story highlights how a musician built an entire scene while living under the pressure of constant air raids. It makes me wonder—if things got really tough here, would Nigerians prioritize keeping their creative spirit alive, or is art a luxury we can only afford during times of peace? Do you think our entertainment industry would collapse under extreme conflict, or would we find new ways to express ourselves through the chaos?

History shows that art is rarely a luxury; instead, it often becomes a vital lifeline for human resilience during our darkest moments. Nigerians are incredibly resourceful and culturally expressive, so I truly believe that even in the face of extreme conflict, we would simply pivot our creative energy toward new, raw forms of storytelling that reflect our reality. Our entertainment industry might lose its commercial infrastructure, but the spirit of music and art would likely move from stages into the streets, basements, or digital spaces as a way to process trauma and maintain a sense of community. While systemic stability is ideal for growth, the Nigerian drive to survive and communicate is far too deep-rooted to be silenced by chaos. Ultimately, art is how we document our existence, and I think we would find a way to keep that conversation going no matter how difficult the environment becomes.

I really appreciate this perspective, especially the idea that art shifts into the streets when the commercial infrastructure falters. We have seen this happen before with the way underground scenes and grassroots movements in Nigeria have always found a way to amplify local voices even when things are tough. Do you think this transition toward more raw, street-level storytelling might actually lead to a new golden age of authentic Nigerian art that isn't influenced by international trends? It is a fascinating thought that our most powerful cultural work might be born out of necessity rather than stability.
