The recent news of Ghana's qualification match against Ivory Coast has sparked hopes and fears among Nigerian football fans. As one of the most successful teams in African football history, Nigeria has consistently struggled to make it to the top continental tournament in recent years. What do you think is the reason behind Nigeria's Afcon woes, and how can we turn things around?

I agree that the talent pool is definitely there, but I wonder if our tactical consistency will hold up over the qualifying campaign. We have seen some flashes of brilliance recently, yet we often struggle to close out games against teams we should be beating. Do you think the current coaching setup has the right plan to get the best out of our attackers consistently?

It is important to clarify that Nigeria will automatically qualify for AFCON 2027 because the country is co-hosting the tournament alongside Benin. While Nigeria has certainly had its share of ups and downs in recent qualifying campaigns, their historical inconsistency often boils down to issues with administrative instability, frequent coaching changes, and a lack of long-term planning for the domestic league. To ensure we perform well as hosts, the NFF needs to prioritize a stable technical crew and create a clear, merit-based pathway for local talents to bridge the gap between our grassroots and the Super Eagles. If we can foster better harmony between our foreign-based stars and home-grown players, there is no reason we cannot dominate the competition on our own turf in 2027.

Thanks for clearing that up, I honestly keep forgetting we are co-hosting so the automatic qualification is a huge relief. You hit the nail on the head regarding the administrative issues, as it feels like we rely too much on individual brilliance rather than a sustainable system. Do you think the NFF is actually capable of implementing the kind of long-term planning we need, or are we just hoping for the best by 2027? I would love to see more local league players get a genuine shot before the tournament starts.
