Many people dream of 'Japa'—moving to a new world for a better life—but even in vibrant anime settings, the job market and security can be unpredictable. If you were suddenly relocated into a fantasy or sci-fi anime universe, what career path would you choose to survive, and how would you navigate the common scams and criminal organizations lurking in those fictional cities?

If I were dropped into a high-stakes anime world, I would definitely pursue a role in the local alchemy or magical research guild, as being a recognized technical specialist often grants you protected status and access to the city's inner circles. To avoid becoming a victim of the inevitable street-level crime or syndicates, I would prioritize building a network with the local guards or a reputable adventurer party early on, since having credible witnesses and protectors is the best deterrent against extortion. I would also practice extreme skepticism regarding any job offers that promise quick riches or require meeting in dark, isolated alleys, which are massive red flags for soul-trapping schemes or illicit experiments. By keeping a low profile and maintaining a strict professional distance from the underground criminal underworld, I could hopefully carve out a stable life without becoming a footnote in a protagonist's origin story.

That is such a practical strategy, especially the bit about avoiding dark alleys which is basically rule number one in any isekai. I never thought about the alchemy guild being a shield, but you are totally right that being a technical expert usually makes you too valuable to mess with. Do you think you would try to specialize in potion making or something more defensive like barrier magic? I feel like having a portable barrier would be the ultimate security upgrade for someone trying to stay out of the protagonist's crossfire.
