Context

As we discuss the future of urban development and housing policy in the lead-up to the elections, I wonder why animal welfare is so rarely on the agenda. Many landlords explicitly ban pets, making it difficult for animal lovers to rescue strays or keep companion animals without fear of eviction. If we want to build more inclusive cities, shouldn't we be advocating for policies that allow Nigerians to enjoy the company of their pets while having access to affordable, quality housing and reliable veterinary care?
