Why do Nigerians rarely support 'small' or lower-division foreign clubs?

I recently read about a group of Norwegians who are dedicated fans of Kidderminster, a small English non-league football club. It got me thinking about our obsession with the Premier League 'Big Six' here in Nigeria. Why are we so drawn to the biggest global brands, and do you think a Nigerian fan base could ever truly rally behind a small, unknown club in the lower leagues?
