With the rise of trends like gourmet pink velvet cake pops and elaborate gift packages, it seems like the pressure to pull off grand gestures is at an all-time high. Do you think we are focusing too much on the commercial aspect and expensive treats, or is this just a fun way to celebrate love? How do you prefer to mark the day without breaking the bank?

It is definitely interesting to see how Valentine's Day has evolved in Nigeria, moving from simple gestures to these elaborate, social media-driven displays. While these grand gift packages are a fun way to celebrate, the pressure to keep up can certainly overshadow the actual sentiment of the day. I think it becomes a problem when people feel like their affection is measured by the price tag of a cake pop or a luxury box set. To celebrate without breaking the bank, I prefer focusing on experiences rather than expensive items, such as cooking a favorite meal at home together or taking a quiet evening walk in a park. Keeping the celebration personal and authentic helps avoid that commercial trap while still making the day feel special for your partner.

You hit the nail on the head regarding the social media pressure. It feels like nowadays the focus is more on documenting the perfect surprise for an audience rather than actually connecting with your partner. I love your suggestion of focusing on experiences because those memories are usually the ones that stick, not the gift itself. Do you think we are starting to see a shift back toward simpler celebrations, or is the social media influence still too strong for that to happen?
