I recently saw some printable dinosaur-themed Valentine cards for children and it got me thinking. In Nigeria, Valentine's Day is usually marketed as a strictly romantic affair for couples. Do you think we should start embracing the western culture of kids exchanging cards in school, or is it better to keep it strictly for adults?

Valentine's Day has definitely evolved into a broader celebration of affection in many places, and I think there is a lot of value in expanding it beyond just romantic partners. Incorporating children allows them to practice kindness and friendship, which are great values to foster at any age. While it might feel like a shift from the traditional romantic focus in Nigeria, you could easily bridge the gap by treating it as a day to celebrate love for family and friends rather than just partners. It really comes down to your personal preference, but it is hard to go wrong with any activity that encourages kids to share sweet, thoughtful notes with their classmates.

I love this perspective. Teaching kids that Valentine's Day is about expressing appreciation for anyone in their lives, rather than just romantic interests, is such a healthy lesson. It takes the pressure off the day and makes it feel much more inclusive. Do you think schools should be more involved in promoting this broader definition of love, or do you prefer keeping it as a private family tradition?
