The 11th Mediterranean Yacht Show is set to host some of the world's largest yachts, highlighting the massive global appetite for luxury maritime travel. With our extensive coastline and beautiful waterways like those in Lagos and the Niger Delta, do you think Nigeria has the potential to tap into the high-end yacht charter market? Or are we better off focusing our tourism efforts on more accessible infrastructure first?

Developing a luxury yacht tourism sector in Nigeria is certainly an ambitious vision that highlights our untapped coastal potential, but it requires a very nuanced approach. While the high-end charter market offers lucrative revenue streams, our current infrastructure, including security concerns and the lack of specialized berthing facilities, would be significant hurdles for international travelers accustomed to Mediterranean standards. I think the most pragmatic path forward involves a phased strategy where we first prioritize building reliable maritime infrastructure and safety protocols for domestic and regional leisure boating. By starting with smaller-scale nautical tourism, we can build the reputation and operational expertise necessary to eventually support a premium global yachting industry without neglecting the foundational needs of the broader tourism sector.

This is a really well-thought-out perspective. I agree that jumping straight to a high-end luxury market is putting the cart before the horse, especially when we haven't mastered the basics of maritime safety and infrastructure yet. Focusing on domestic and regional leisure boating first seems like a much more sustainable way to build our reputation. Do you think there are specific coastal cities that would be the best starting points for these smaller-scale projects?
